Navy enlisted applicants use the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The AFQT supports basic enlistment eligibility screening, while Navy classification composites help determine which ratings an applicant may qualify for.

Current Navy eligibility boundary
The current Navy recruiting requirements page states that enlisted applicants need a qualifying ASVAB score, but the public page reviewed for this update does not publish one universal numeric minimum for every applicant path.
Do not substitute a commonly cited third-party number for the current Navy rule. Confirm the active requirement with Navy recruiting and your recruiter.
Navy eligibility also includes requirements separate from ASVAB scores, including citizenship or permanent-resident status where applicable, age, education, MEPS medical qualification and other physical, mental and moral standards.
AFQT versus Navy rating qualification
AFQT is derived from:
- Arithmetic Reasoning;
- Mathematics Knowledge;
- Word Knowledge;
- Paragraph Comprehension.
Navy occupational qualification can use additional ASVAB subtests in Service-specific composites. OfficialASVAB publishes examples of Navy classification composites involving combinations of verbal, math, science, electronics, mechanical, auto/shop and spatial scores.

Build a strong base in AR, MK, WK and PC because AFQT affects basic enlistment eligibility.
2. Technical domains for technical ratings
Depending on the rating you are exploring, additional preparation may include:
- General Science;
- Electronics Information;
- Mechanical Comprehension;
- Auto and Shop information;
- Assembling Objects.
Do not assume every technical rating uses the same combination.

Answer: B. The passage states this directly.
Electronics Information

Mechanical Comprehension

Rating qualification is not guaranteed
Even a strong AFQT and strong Service composites do not guarantee a specific rating. Availability and other requirements can matter, including:
- medical standards;
- citizenship and clearance eligibility;
- education;
- age;
- current openings;
- special physical or screening requirements for some ratings.

Test format
The Navy uses the same ASVAB administration family as other Services: supervised CAT-ASVAB, limited paper administration and recruiter-authorized PiCAT with later verification where applicable.
