There is no single “best” test-prep provider for every assessment. The useful choice depends on four things:
- the exact test named in your invitation;
- whether the test is for employment, school, licensing or certification;
- whether you need simulation-style practice or content review;
- whether the provider currently sells a product that actually matches that test.
This hub is an editorial routing layer. It does not rank providers by sponsorship and it does not treat vendor marketing claims as independent evidence.

For FAA ATSA timed practice, start with the FAA ATSA Test guide, then use ATSA practice tests as an independent preparation option.
Use those dedicated comparison owners rather than a generic provider comparison when the named assessment is already known.
Three prep styles to distinguish
Employment-assessment simulation
A candidate who knows the exact employer or psychometric provider may benefit from a platform that currently lists employer-, provider- or test-specific simulations and drills.
JobTestPrep currently advertises a large catalog of employer and assessment-company preparation, timed practice, score reports and answer explanations. Those are vendor claims and product availability must be checked on the current product page.
Course, study-guide and flashcard review
Mometrix currently offers study guides, online courses and flashcards across a broad catalog of exams. That model can fit candidates who want structured content review rather than a close employment-assessment simulation.
School and gifted-test preparation
TestPrep-Online currently publishes grade- and test-specific preparation for school/gifted assessments including MAP, CogAT, OLSAT, NNAT, CAT4 and other K–12 tests. That is a different audience from adult employment testing.
How to compare a product before buying
Check the current product page for:
- exact assessment name;
- sections included;
- whether full-length simulations are included;
- whether the practice matches the current test version;
- access length;
- device or platform requirements;
- free versus paid content;
- refund or renewal terms;
- whether the product is official or third-party.
A product should not be recommended only because it covers a broad category such as “aptitude tests.” It should match the candidate’s actual test.
Official sources still come first
Use the employer, government agency or assessment publisher for:
- live format;
- timing;
- scoring;
- eligibility;
- deadlines;
- accommodations;
- current hiring rules.
Use commercial prep providers for optional practice, not as the authority for those facts.
Editorial independence
Our comparison criteria include:
- relevance to the named assessment;
- current product coverage;
- practice format;
- explanation quality where publicly described;
- pricing/access transparency;
- candidate fit;
- limitations and alternatives.
Affiliate relationships do not determine the editorial conclusion. See the Review Policy and Affiliate Disclosure.
Two different CCATs
A recurring buying mistake is confusing:
- Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test — employment assessment;
- Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test — school/gifted assessment.
Use Best CCAT Test Prep to route to the right preparation context.
Provider comparisons
Use provider-vs-provider pages when the decision is about study style rather than one exact exam:
- JobTestPrep vs TestPrep-Online — employment-oriented catalog versus K–12/gifted focus;
- Mometrix vs TestPrep-Online — study-guide/course model versus school/gifted PrepPacks;
- JobTestPrep vs Mometrix — employment simulations versus broader content-review format.
Final rule
Choose the product that best matches the actual test and candidate, not the provider with the longest catalog or strongest marketing language. Re-check current vendor contents immediately before purchase because packages, pricing and access terms can change.

Why trust Job Practice Tests
Independent from employers and test publishers
Job Practice Tests is an educational site. We are not the employer, regulator, or official test publisher, and we say so clearly when a guide discusses a third-party assessment.
Official sources come first
Hiring rules and test formats change. When an employer or agency publishes current instructions, those instructions take priority over any preparation guide, including ours.
Affiliate links are disclosed
Some pages contain affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy through them, but paid preparation is optional and commercial relationships do not determine our editorial conclusions.
