Use this page when you want to practise, not when you are still trying to identify which Amazon assessment applies to your role.

Amazon does not use one identical assessment for every applicant. Current Amazon candidate guidance shows different paths for customer service, software development, business intelligence and other roles. Customer-service applications can include a Work Style Assessment and a virtual job simulation, while technical roles can use very different online assessments.

If you do not yet know which assessment appears in your invitation, start with the Amazon Assessment Test guide. If your invitation specifically names Work Style, use the Amazon Work Style Assessment guide alongside the practice below. Software-development candidates should use the Amazon SDE Online Assessment guide for coding and track-specific rules.

Every question on this page is an original educational exercise. None is an official Amazon question, recalled live item, score key, proprietary simulation screen or confidential hiring material.

What this free practice covers

The practice bank focuses on transferable skills that match public Amazon assessment themes when they are relevant to the role:

  • work-style consistency;
  • customer-focused judgment;
  • ownership and accountability;
  • prioritization;
  • following written rules;
  • attention to detail;
  • professional communication;
  • safe and reliable decision-making;
  • basic operational reasoning.

It deliberately does not claim to reproduce a universal Amazon test. Your live invitation controls the modules, timing, platform and instructions.

Current Amazon assessment context

Amazon’s current Customer Service Associate Application Guide says that the application can be customized by role and location and can include screening questions, a Work Style Assessment, a virtual job simulation and, for technical positions, a technical assessment.

For that documented customer-service path, Amazon currently describes Work Style as focused on its culture and Leadership Principles and typically taking about 10 to 25 minutes. The virtual job simulation is described as role-related virtual tasks, typically about 20 minutes to an hour, involving problem-solving, prioritization and interpersonal skills.

Those timings belong to that documented path. Do not apply them automatically to warehouse, engineering, management, data or other Amazon roles.

How to use the practice

  1. Answer each item before reading the explanation.
  2. Use only the written facts in the scenario.
  3. Prefer a response that solves the stated problem without inventing authority you do not have.
  4. Do not trade safety, integrity or accuracy for superficial speed.
  5. For work-style items, answer as yourself rather than trying to manufacture a perfect personality profile.
  6. After the set, note whether your misses come from reading, prioritization, inconsistency or overthinking.

Section 1 — Work Style practice

These items are simplified self-reflection exercises. Amazon’s real Work Style experience is controlled by Amazon and can use different wording and response formats.

Question 1

Which statement is closer to how you should think about a recurring process problem?

A. If it is outside my narrow task, I never mention it. B. I raise the problem through the appropriate channel and help improve it when I can. C. I change the process without telling anyone. D. I wait until the problem causes a major failure.

Best practice answer: B

Why: Ownership does not require bypassing authority. It means taking appropriate responsibility for surfacing and helping solve problems.

Question 2

Which response best reflects reliable work behavior?

A. I hide mistakes if correcting them will take time. B. I follow required procedures and report an error when it affects shared work. C. I skip checks whenever the team is busy. D. I assume someone else will notice quality problems.

Best practice answer: B

Why: Reliability combines accuracy, accountability and appropriate communication.

Question 3

A decision is reversible and you have enough information to make a low-risk choice. Which approach is generally stronger?

A. Delay indefinitely until every uncertainty disappears. B. Make a reasoned decision, monitor the result and adjust if needed. C. Choose randomly to save time. D. Ask someone else to take responsibility even though the decision is yours.

Best practice answer: B

Why: Acting with judgment is different from acting recklessly.

Question 4

You receive constructive feedback that identifies a real weakness in your work. Which response is strongest?

A. Dismiss it immediately. B. Understand the evidence, correct the issue and apply the learning to future work. C. Avoid the person who gave the feedback. D. Explain why every mistake was someone else’s fault.

Best practice answer: B

Why: Learning from accurate feedback supports improvement and accountability.

Section 2 — Virtual job simulation style practice

The scenarios below are fictional. They practise prioritization and workplace judgment only.

Question 5

You are handling a customer issue and discover that the requested resolution requires approval you do not have. The customer is waiting. What should you do?

A. Promise the outcome anyway. B. Explain the next step clearly and escalate through the approved process. C. End the conversation without explanation. D. Invent a workaround that bypasses policy.

Best answer: B

Why: It combines customer communication with respect for decision authority.

Question 6

Two tasks arrive together. One affects a customer order that is about to miss a deadline; the other is a routine internal update due later today. What is the strongest first move?

A. Prioritize the time-sensitive customer issue and communicate about the internal task if necessary. B. Do the internal task first because it is easier. C. Ignore both until someone follows up. D. Start both at once without deciding priorities.

Best answer: A

Why: The scenario provides a clear urgency and customer-impact difference.

Question 7

A teammate proposes skipping a required safety check to recover lost time. What should you do?

A. Skip it once because the shift is behind. B. Follow the required safety process and raise the schedule problem separately. C. Skip it only if a manager is not nearby. D. Ask another teammate to take the risk.

Best answer: B

Why: Time pressure does not cancel a stated safety requirement.

Question 8

A coworker disagrees with your proposed solution and provides data that contradicts one of your assumptions. What is the strongest response?

A. Ignore the data because the idea was yours. B. Review the evidence, test the assumption and revise the plan if the evidence is stronger. C. End the discussion immediately. D. Criticize the coworker for disagreeing.

Best answer: B

Why: Good judgment uses evidence rather than attachment to a preferred answer.

Question 9

You discover that an update you sent contains an incorrect figure that another team may use. What should you do?

A. Correct your own copy silently. B. Follow the correction process and notify affected people promptly. C. Wait to see whether anyone notices. D. Delete the original record without explanation.

Best answer: B

Why: Shared errors require transparent correction, not just a private fix.

Section 3 — Reading and rule application

Question 10

Question 14

A queue contains 240 items. 75% are completed. How many remain?

Correct answer: B

Why: 25% remain, and 25% of 240 is 60.

A process normally takes 12 minutes per case. A verified improvement reduces the time by 25% without changing quality. What is the new time per case?

A. 3 minutes B. 8 minutes C. 9 minutes D. 10 minutes

Correct answer: C

Why: A 25% reduction is 3 minutes, so 12 - 3 = 9 minutes.

Score your practice

This score is only for the original questions on this page; it is not an Amazon score prediction.

  • 13–15 correct: your rule-reading and workplace-judgment basics are strong; focus next on the exact module in your invitation.
  • 10–12 correct: review the explanations and identify whether errors came from reading too quickly or weak prioritization.
  • Below 10: repeat the set untimed and write the rule or fact that supports each answer before choosing.

For Work Style items, do not treat the four self-reflection questions as a personality score. The purpose is to practise consistency and professional reasoning.

Use Amazon Jobs and your invitation as the authority for the live process. Third-party practice can help you rehearse transferable skills, but it cannot tell you that every role receives the same assessment or guarantee an interview outcome.
